
A JRA Hawthorn House
Contemporary alterations & additions to a heritage house in Hawthorn. We haven't shared any photos of this house yet. Looking forward to posting photos when the construction is complete. The image above shows the sunny living room at the back of the house. This space features full height frameless glazing that meets the floating raked ceiling above. The roof separates the old and new in a sophisticated way while letting lots of light in to the contemporary living space. There

On-Site: Hawthorn follow up
It's a pleasure watching this JRA project on site in Hawthorn progress. The above photograph shows the glazing that has just been installed. Actually that is a giant glazed pivot door and it looks amazing! All of the glazing in this project is thermally broken and is a great feature. The photo below was posted on our blog 6 weeks ago. On-site in Glen Iris
On-site in Glen Iris; The joinery has now gone in and it looks great. The charcoal is striking and the timber gives the kitchen some warmth. The design features interesting, contemporary ceilings and skylights. We look forward to sharing more of this project. The Pritzker Prize; 2017
This years Pritzker Prize has been announced and for the first time has gone to three architects; Ramón Vilalta, Rafael Aranda, Carme Pigem, of Spanish firm RCR Arquitectes. Said of the their work in the jury citation: "Each building designed by these architects is special and is uncompromisingly of its time and place" The Pritzker prize, is awarded each year to a living architect/s for significant achievement, and is one of the profession’s highest honours.
