Last year we shared some photos on our website and Facebook page, of a renovation we did for a Californian Bungalow in Hawthorn. This house was in a Heritage Overlay and had a covenant from the 1920s stating that all buildings must have a roof made wholly of slates or tiles and, walls constructed wholly of brick. The project architect carefully selected materials to create a fresh and contemporary addition to this heritage home. The main cladding used for this contemporary extension was a Boral terracotta roof shingle (also used for the roof) which complied with the overlay and covenant.
